Description
This is an implementation of the rsnapshot utility for the N5200. It is a filesystem snapshot utility written in perl for making backups of local and remote systems using rsync and hard links. See the rsnapshot project website for more details.
Installation
First, ensure both the PERL and RSYNC modules are installed. Install RSNAPSHOT.mod through the "System"->"Module Mgmt" menu in the Thecus Web Server Administration web page.
The whole installation process is logged and sent as an E-Mail if you're configured in the E-Mail notification configuration. After installing, but prior to enabling the module, download the RSNAPSHOT configuration files through the module property page. The tarball that is downloaded will contain two files:
- rsnapshot.conf is a typical rsnapshot configuration file with some entries customized for the N5200. See the rsnapshot project website for documentation about this configuration file.
- RSNAPSHOT_crontab is a list of crontab entries that will be added to your N5200's crontab. Do not edit this file unless you know exactly what you are doing. See the RSNAPSHOT project page for more details.
After editing these files as needed upload the new configuration to the N5200 then enable the RSNAPSHOT module. The new entries will be added to the crontab, which will run rsnapshot as needed.
