Facts
Name: MLdonkey (Multi-Network p2p client)
Maintainer(s): Ralf Schmitt ralf[AT]bunkertor[DOT]net
Target: N5200
Latest version: 3.0.1-1
Website: http://www.mldonkey.org
Description
This is the mldonkey plugin for the Thecus N5200 box. Mldonkey is a peer to peer daemon that is able to connect several file shareing networks at once. Mldonkey is a lightweight daemon that runs perfect on the thecus 5200 hardware. After installation this plugin enables the edonkey, kademila and bit torrent networks using the ports below (see Network). This is just for my convenience. Any network the core supports or setting can get changed after installation (see Control).
Warning:
- In the current version of this plugin mldonkey runs as user "root" on your Thecus box
- MLdonkey creates downloaded files and folders with mode 777
- You should always disable this plugin and reboot before you change any raid stuff
- MLdonkey needs direct port access to the internet
Installation:
- Go to the "Module Management" interface of your Thecus box.
- Point the file-chooser to the "MLdonkey.mod" file and press "install"
- Create a folder named "mldonkey" with the "Folder" dialog.
Control:
You can control the MLdonkey core in many different ways...
- Via browser by url "http://{ip_of_your_thecus_box}:4080"
- Via telnet by command "telnet {ip_of_your_thecus_box} 4000"
- With one of the many Guis around using port 4001
Uninstallation:
You can uninstall the plugin anytime.
- The "mldonkey" folder will remain untouched on your Thecus box
- Any detected network sources will get lost
- All changed core settings will get lost
Upgrading:
If you update the MLdonkey plugin all your active bittorrent downloads won't get detected nor resumed by core!
To handle this problem you can:
- Wait until all your bittorrent downloads have finished
- Start downloading all active bittorrent files from scratch
- You can also move your torrent files from "mldonkey/torrents/downloads" to "mldonkey/torrents/incoming" and then use the "verify_chunks" function to detect all already downloaded parts for each file.
Network:
- Kademila 4661 (tcp & udp)
- Edonkey 4662 (tcp)
- Edonkey 4666 (udp)
- Bit Torrent 4664 (tcp)
- Bit Torrent Tracker 4665 (tcp)
The MLdonkey plugin uses these ports to reach its networks after installation. You have to verify yourself that these ports are routed to your Thecus box. MLdonkey's "force_porttest","porttest" and "id" function will help you on debugging this.
